After analyzing a lot of data on gas saving devices I am confident about what works and does not work. So we can divide the world of gas savers into two groups: group one - what works, and group two: what does not work or does not work well enough to bother with. Then we can divide the world of what works into two groups: group A - what works as advertised, and group B - what works but is dangerous and costly.
I figure my best approach is to begin with the warnings, groups not withstanding.
The best warning I can give you is this. If you do not know what you are doing, do not do it. By the time we get to the bottom of this article, you will know a great deal more than you know now. The most useful part of what you will come away from this article with is some ability to consider the cost of violating that best warning.
Look at it like this. The cost of replacing a ruined or damaged engine is equal to quite a number of gallons of gas even at today’s prices.
The odds of your picking a winner are worse than betting four the hard way on a craps table.
Even if you pick a winning gas saving device, only a few improve mileage enough to be worth the bother.
Ask yourself:
If I can change something as simple as replacing a chip, why did the car maker not do that? Would it not be to the car maker’s advantage to say “this vehicle get N mpg?
Ask yourself:
Why does the vendor say “up to X mpg possible and guaranteed to get N mpg” instead of just saying the vague “up to X mpg”?
Ask yourself:
Why would a vendor ask only $8.29 (or $10 or $20 or even $40) for a quick install, plug and play, gadget that, if OK, would save you enventually as much as several thousand dollars in gas purchases? Gooooood question? Here is why? Assuming no damage to your vehicle and assuming the gadget just does not work, so you are out about $20? You will consider yourself lucky and forget that you ever made that mistake.
Ask Yourself:
You will find hydrogen generators offered for what are not unrealistic prices of several hundred dollars. Not unrealistic if it works and if it is worth the money. But always do the math. Here is a quote from one of these offers. “After I installed the HHO unit this vehicle went up to 546 miles per tank with regular 87 gas.” DO THE MATH! Assume a 15 gal. tank. Assume your vehicle already gets 25 mpg. 15 x 25 = 375 miles currently. So you are just 171 miles short of his figure already. Now add installation charges. Now believe that the unit will not destroy your engine. Now, believe the warranty! Is this not asking you to believe TOO MUCH? Even if the warranty is valid and you get all your money back? Is getting your money back going to be worth the hassle, the bother, the work, the potential destruction of a good vehicle?
AS I mentioned before what are the odds of your winning on the first roll of the dice? Remember you are betting on four the hard way. First, what does that mean? I used to shoot craps in the casinos. I developed a pretty good system which sometimes made me a lot of money. Sometimes I lost some money. But I knew the odds. I exercised the odds. I enjoyed the game. Especially when I won. BUT I WOULD ALWAYS SNICKER when some guy would squeeze in next to me and bet on four the hard way. The odds were simple. A roll of the dice has 36 possible outcomes. Only one of those is four the hard way (both die come up two). So the chances of rolling the double two is 1 out of 36 rolls. Asked why he was betting four the hard way, the roller would invariable reply, “darn, man are you dumb or something? Hard way pays 19 to 1.” DO THE MATH. Assuming a dollar per roll, that 19 to 1 return is going to repay half your outlay. Yet people bet the hard way every day. And the same people are likely to buy a $10 gas saver and either get little result or ruin a good engine.
Many kinds of gas savers are on the market now. Here are a few of the types of devices. offered. air/fuel ratio tweaker chips, air-bleed, vapor-bleed, internal engine modification, liquid injection, ignition, fuel line, mixture enhancers - fuels and fuel additives, oils and oil additives, magnets, and driving habit modifiers. Some are bad, some are good, some are much better than others.
If you go testing through all those that comprise each type, I suggest you use the question model above. You are welcome to buy them, install them, and use them. But I think in most cases, the question model will be effective in reducing the total time it takes you to find success or give up.
For me, I like to be thorough. But, I also like solutions:
where I have great confidence going in,
are effective
are non-destructive
where the solution does not have adverse affects on the economy - for example, bio fuels have two problems. One, they drive prices up on food (with global warming snowballing food will get extremely expensive and an additional price increase source can be devastating. Of course governments cannot see that because governments ALWAYS have a (somewhat) hidden agenda that normally is not beneficial to society. Two, bio fuels will be provided by the same people who brought you toxic gasoline for the past century. Do you trust the oil companies any more than you trust a politician? Poor you! (pun intended).
where I can see a two-for benefit
where things are not going to get messy and something is apt to be overlooked
When I began writing this post I intended to simply warn you about dangers and save you some time, and/or save you some damage.
In the course of researching this post, though, and putting it together, two solutions became obvious to me and both can be very beneficial and effective.
So, I am going to offer them to you. I am not going to give them away, though. Although I am employing both solutions myself and although employing my own solutions is a payback for me, I think good solutions do not mean as much to us if we do not pay something for them.
Frankly, not only am I going to charge money for both solutions, I am offering NO money back guarantee. I am offering somewhat of a guarantee. You have to purchase and try the two solutions in order. I know solution one works. I also know it is not for everyone.
Therefore if you buy solution one, even though it has tremendous benefits in addition to reducing your fuel costs, if you buy solution one and are unhappy after two weeks for any reason, I will let you have solution two for half price.
You can always go directly to solution two without trying solution one. Apply solution two and be happy. But I want you to always remember that I told you that solution one offers benefits that repay your investment in many ways.

If Sol ONE D2P product option is not obvious, click on the ENERGY category at the top of the page.
I could run up all kinds of big letters in bright colors like those endless sales sites that present a hundred non-existent testimonials that changed the lives of various idiots who applied no analysis, no Second Level Opinion in getting to the buying point.
I am not going to do that.
I do not offer either of these two solutions on other media. Not on TV. Not on radio. Not in a store. I have seen some of these TV Infomercials that go on and on. As soon as I get to the point in my analysis and opinion forming where I know the deal is not real, I spend the rest of the infomercial laughing at how bold the vendors are in SHOWING THEIR PROOF and how confident they are in their conclusions about how many viewers will buy the product.
My way of proof is my promise that I will sell you solution two for half price if you use solution one. I will even take your word for it. I am confident that solution one not only will pay you back on your fuel bill in less than a week if you drive at all. It will also give you a return that will improve your cash flow and make you feel good about it for the rest of your life.
